Can Critters Damage Your Irrigation System?
Here at Challenger Irrigation, we often discuss the ways the weather and outdoor elements can affect your irrigation system and lead to problems. However, aside from weather, there are other influences that can cause serious problems with your irrigation system, like insects and animals on your property.
Do You Have Critters in Your Yard?
The easiest way to determine if you have critters in your yard that can cause problems is to visually inspect your property. Some animals and insects are visible to the naked eye, while others only come out to cause mischief at night. We recommend walking your property regularly to look for signs of animals, like unusual feces and holes where something has been burrowing or digging for food. If you notice any of these signs, you can keep a more watchful eye to see if you can determine what animals are visiting your property. Outdoor cameras may also be helpful.
How Animals Can Damage Your Irrigation System
It is extremely easy for animals to damage your irrigation system. If you have animals in your yard that are burrowing underground or digging, they can easily dig up sprinkler heads or cause damage to the underground lines that carry the water. If you notice that you have animals in your yard and your sprinklers are not working properly, there is a good chance damage has been caused.
We are always happy to come and inspect or perform maintenance on your irrigation system if you think you are experiencing a problem.
