Keep Your Property Safe This Holiday Season
We cannot believe that it is already October and Halloween is just around the corner. Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be here, followed by the December holidays and then the New Year. This time of year is popular for decorating your outdoor property as well as a time when family and friends may be coming over regularly. We want to share some tips on how to keep your outdoor property safe during this time:
Create a Walking Path
If you have many parties during the holidays or a large number of children that will be trick-or-treating at your home for Halloween, you may want to create a walking path for your guests. Regular walking on your lawn can cause the grass to become damaged. This can also be true for flowers and landscaping that may be in the walking path of children.
Be Mindful of Outdoor Decor
If you have outdoor decor and decorations, it is important to pay attention and note where they are being placed. Certain decorations, such as inflatables, can cause severe damage to your lawn if they are left to sit for extended periods of time. It may seem like extra work, but it is recommended to rotate and move your inflatables around your lawn, so one area is not being affected. Inflatables do not let your lawn breathe properly, and the lack of oxygen can cause the grass to die.
Protect Your Sprinkler Heads
If you have an irrigation system, we recommend flagging your sprinkler heads before trick-or-treating. This helps to prevent neighborhood children from continuously walking on your sprinkler heads. This can cause the sprinkler heads to sink further in the ground or become ripped out of the ground if someone should trip. It is also important to note where your sprinkler heads are if you have any outdoor lawn decorations for Halloween or even the upcoming Christmas holiday.
If your irrigation system or sprinkler head should become damaged during the next few months we encourage you to contact us at Challenger irrigation and we would be more than happy to repair any issues. Now is also a great time to get a consultation if you are considering adding an irrigation system to your property in the near future.
