Tips For Watering Your Lawn This Summer
Our summer weather is nothing to joke about. In the middle of summer, each day seems hotter than the last. If you want a healthy lawn after summer, it is important to water it properly. Failure to do so can leave you with a multitude of lawn and landscaping problems. Here are some helpful tips:
Water in the Early Morning
Summer days get hot, hot, hot. You may think you should water your lawn when it is extremely hot outside, but doing that can cause severe harm. Watering your lawn during the hottest time of the day when the sun is blazing can cause the water to evaporate immediately and burn your lawn. The ideal time to water is early morning, before the sun rises. This allows the water to saturate the lawn properly.
Use Rainfall to Guide Your Watering Timeline
It is no surprise to anyone that we get a lot of rain during the summer. The difference between our rain and the rain in other areas of the country is that it comes down fast and hard over a short time. The rain can impact the frequency with which you need to water your lawn and landscaping. Watering after receiving a lot of rain can cause the ground to become oversaturated and lead to problems with mold and fungus.
Ensure Your Irrigation System is Working Properly
If you have an irrigation system, it is important to be sure it is working properly when you are using it the most. It is also important to check the main system, the lines, and the sprinkler heads. If anything is broken or not working properly, you may see your lawn become burned in some spots or show signs of fungus if it is receiving too much water.
