What Is An Irrigation System?
One thing that Florida is known for is the unpredictable rainfall we see, especially during the summer months. It may seem like it rains a lot here during this time of year, and while it does, the rain is usually a fast downpour that is over quickly. This type of rain is not helpful to your lawn and other landscaping. The rainwater does not have time to absorb into the ground before it evaporates. The summer sun is extremely strong and quickly dries the rain, leading to dead grass and landscaping. In the fall and spring, there can be long periods without rain. If you are looking to have a beautiful lawn with landscaping, an irrigation system will be beneficial.
Ways to Water Your Property
There are a number of ways you can water your lawn. Some people like to hand water and use a sprayer attached to a hose, making gentle motions to spray the water repeatedly over an area. This method can be beneficial after laying down grass seed because it is such a gentle way to water. Unfortunately, it can be tiring.
A sprinkler that you set up yourself is another option. There are different types of sprinklers that you can buy from your local hardware store or garden center. While these options don’t require you to stand and water, you still need to remember to move the sprinkler and eventually turn off the water.
An irrigation system uses a variety of pumps, sprays, and underground tubes to move water that is then sprayed over a certain area. Sprinkler heads are placed strategically around your property. This method is beneficial because the water is sprayed out of the sprinkler head and kept close to the area that is receiving it. It allows for the least amount of evaporation and the most water your lawn and landscaping will receive. Another benefit of an irrigation system is that you can set the time for when it will start and stop. This is helpful when you have watering restrictions. You can set the time and then forget about it, and the system will work on its own.
