How To Know You Have A Leaky Irrigation System
If you have an irrigation system, it is important to continuously check for problems. During the months when the system is being used daily, you should check regularly. Even during the winter, if your system is turned off, it is still important to periodically inspect the system and your property. It may be hard to see certain issues with the naked eye, but knowing what to look for is helpful. We want to share some warning signs that can indicate a problem.
Warning Signs Not to Ignore
If you notice any of these signs, it is time to schedule a maintenance appointment:
A Gush of Water
If you see a fountain of water that is gushing out of either a sprinkler head or one of the pipes, there is a leak. This can happen during the winter if a pipe bursts or during the summer if something needs to be replaced.
Puddles of Water Near Sprinkler Heads
This can be an indication of a leak in an underground pipe, and the water is settling on the surface.
Steady Water Trickling Out Of Sprinklers
If water is continuously trickling out of the sprinkler heads, there is most likely a clog in one of the heads. It can also mean that one of the seals has worn out and needs to be replaced.
Sprinkler That Doesn’t Spray
There are times you may notice a sprinkler doesn’t spray as far as it used to, or it is not spraying water at all. There is definitely a problem with a sprinkler head that needs to be repaired or replaced.
