Tips For Successful Lawn Irrigation
We want to help your lawn look its best. We also want to help ensure that you are not overwatering or underwatering your lawn. An irrigation system can help keep your lawn watered properly, but it’s important to know how to avoid a hefty water bill or a dead lawn. Here are some tips for successful lawn irrigation:
Be Aware of Local Watering Restrictions
It is important to know the watering restrictions for your area. Depending on the time of year, you may be able to water only on certain days and for a limited time. If you are overwatering and not following the guidelines, you risk being reported to the county in which you live.
Water During Late Hours
This is especially important on hot and humid days. The sun is so strong that it will evaporate the water and cause damage to your lawn and landscaping. Watering during the evening and night hours allows the water to saturate the cooler lawn.
Inspect Your Sprinkler Heads
Regular inspection of your sprinkler heads is necessary to be sure you do not have a leak and are not wasting water. Anything can cause damage to sprinkler heads, especially children, pets, and lawnmowers. Because damage can occur at any time, regular inspections are necessary. Even with water restrictions, you are able to test your sprinklers for a certain amount of time to ensure they are working properly.
Check Your Irrigation Controller
Be sure to also check the main irrigation controller. Make sure that the watering time is correct. It’s also important to be sure there is no damage to the system or controller.
